Houston Chronicle: Slick City offers new look inside slide park planned for Katy Mills Mall

By Ariana Garcia

New images and details of a massive indoor slide park opening this summer inside Katy Mills Mall have been unveiled. Slick City Action Park, the creators behind the world’s first indoor waterless slide park, are not only opening their first location in Texas this summer, but measuring at nearly 60,000-square-feet, the Katy facility will be their largest yet, according to Bre Boote, a marketing representative for the park.

The “fast as friction” slide park designed for all ages features indoor slides that end in padded flooring or landing pits instead of water. Slick City currently has one location that opened in June 2022 Denver and another in St. Louis, which opened in November 2022. Katy will also be the company’s first location with attractions for guests 11 and younger, including a four-level soft play area with multiple slides, trapezes, swings, zip lines, silks, obstacle course and mini go-karts.

Located between mall entrances 7 and 9, the new Katy Mills Mall park will also feature eleven water slides; four sport all-air courts for basketball, dodgeball, volleyball and soccer games; as well as over 5,000 square-feet of events space for parties.

Among the expansive list of slide options at the new park is the race slide, which allows park-goers to compete in a race to the bottom of the slide. There’s also a switchback slide, which has twists and turns down a curved tunnel. Finally, a launch slide shoots participants toward an upward curve at exhilarating speeds, sending them through the air and into a soft pit below.

The Houston-area location will also allows late-night access for adult guests to slide under black lights and lasers in glow in the dark shirts. Slick City will begin hiring for the new facility this summer. Once open, prices for tickets will be $24.99 for visitors 12 and older and $12.99 for children.
